Dinner at Harvest Spot

This week me and my family are going to celebrate my dad’s and my brother’s birthday. So we went out yesterday to have dinner at this place called Harvest Spot. I’ve never seen it before so I reckoned probably it’s still pretty new, probably less than a year. I thought this place was some Taiwanese organic food restaurant or some vegetarian restaurant because of the design with those two cartoon characters!
Can you figure out this is an Italian restaurant? Not until I saw it on their name card!
The interior design looks different compared to the cartoon-ish sign. It’s dim and jazzy, very cozy place overall. These are the food that we ordered.

Baked Cheese Macaroni RM 12.90
Polo ED Fungo Spaghetti RM13.90
The spaghetti is pretty large, so don't worry you'll be full with just this :)
Linguine Alla Carbonara RM16.50

Apple Juice RM6.90
Honey Lemon Green Tea RM5.90
Espresso Solo RM4.50
This is the smallest cup I've ever seen for a human to drink, it's only slightly larger than those toy  cup, you can't even put your finger through the hole. So those who are thirsty better not order this,
Let me share a personal experience that I’m fond of. So there’s this guy with his labtop, I thought he was just another customer doing his work while chilling out here. Turn out he’s someone in charge of the restaurant, probably the boss himself. A very young entrepreneur if that’s true. He supervise and I saw him even wipe off the side of the plate before the food is served to make sure that they looked good when served, that’s was pretty impressive. I even came out with this wild imagination of him serving the food to customers but clearly it only proved that I was thinking too much. Then when our food was served, I saw him holding my spaghetti coming towards our table! I know it’s purely fiction but it’s definitely a surprise, or an almost dream come true J

Suits

It's pretty surprising how I didn't go all out fangurling and blogging about it instantly as soon as I got hooked on Suits. I guess I must be busy watching this TV Drama whole day until I can't afford to get extract extra time to write. So I've decided to do it now.

Suits, you might wonder why I'm here talking about men's wear. Wrong. People who've heard or watched it will know that I'm talking about Suits-the legal drama by USA network.

Suits talk about New York's best closer, Harvey Spector (Gabriel Macht) getting promoted to Senior Partner but under the condition that he needs to hire an associate. On the other hand, the college dropout Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) who has an Eidetic memory, was helping his old best friend Trevor (Tom Lipinski) for drug trafficking, so happened bumped into Harvey's associate interview specially for Harvard Law school student. In order to run away from the cops, he imposed himself as a Harvard law student who came for the interview. Needless to say, he got the position, but make sure to check out the process of Harvey hiring him, it's mind blowing!

A lot of my friends been recommending me to watch this show, but being a anti-fan of tv shows, I just laugh through and forget about it until this holiday then a decided to give it a shot and they were right! What's so great about this legal drama when there are also others like The Good Wife or Fairly Legal? I personally thinks that this show focus less on the drama but more on the legal knowledge. It's more education type rather than drama type, something similar to CSI. The drama part is mostly just a connection between the characters to make everything make sense.

Put aside the legal knowledge, Suits is also more or less like a moral lesson with quotes that will wake you up. Take for example, Harvey once told Mike who was under pressure and wanted to quit, winners don't make excuses when the other side plays the game. That, was just one of the millions.

Apart from that, Suits also have jokes that could crack me up better than my favourite comedy-Modern Family. For example, there was a scene where Harvey was representing his driver in an accident trial, the other taxi driver was the plaintiff. After the plaintiff finished talking, Harvey's driver told him, "Forget about it, they're gonna make him president." There are more that you can find in the drama. Most of the jokes here doesn't happen with big, funny gestures that make you laugh, but most of it came from the character itself. This show is also well-known with quoting movie lines including Battleship Galactica, Mississippi Burning, Dirty Dancing and many more.

Maybe because this was the first drama that I followed every episode that's why I was all excited and praises for this Suits. But I don't remember being all crazy with Glee after watching its pilot, or maybe Suits is just really that special to me :)

What a waste of talents when none of them got nominated for Emmy, I really hope maybe their second season will get some recognition next year!

p/s: I found a few pretty good tumblr site for this TV show, this is my favourite one but if you google tumblr suits, you can find more :)

My The Amazing Spiderman Movie Review

It's been almost a year since I last stepped into the cinema-my favourite place in this whole universe besides home. So, every time when I hang out with my friends, I never forget to snatch the opportunity to watch movie. And what's the best part about movies during summer? Blockbusters. Yes, even the title clearly states the movie that I'll be sharing today.

First of all, it's pretty unbelievable that I actually enjoyed this movie when it's cliché and mostly predictable, I guess all thanks to Mark Webb, the director of one of my favourite movies of all-500 days of Summer. Unlike other usual blockbusters or action movies, Mark Webb managed to capture the emotions and the psychological game surrounding Peter Parker and Gwen, Peter and his parents, Peter and Uncle Ben, Aunt May and not to mention the struggle within Dr. Curt Connors. Of course, the fact that when my friend informed me that Mark Webb directed 500DOS and now this legendary classic action blockbuster or whatever you call it is jaw dropping. Naturally I give 2 thumbs up for that without needing to watch the movie. On the other hand, I personally am a fan of action movies.

The initial part of the movie can be considered boring because I believe most people had already throw this movie into the "action summer blockbuster" tray before even watching it, so for people like me was only waiting for Peter Parker in his Spiderman suit fighting villains for 2 hours straight with a little kissing scenes to spice it up a little. Even my lil' brother can't stop looking at his watch, telling me that it's been one hour and the freaking Peter Parker haven't even discovered his Spiderman suit and still fooling around! However, luckily like all movies, the last part of the fighting, action scenes managed to compensate the loss at the front part and made it a movie that's worth my RM8.

Andrew Garfield, ahh~~~ Needless of any explanation I've been easily flattered by his shyness and cute looks with those heroic movements, not forgetting those heart-felt moments during his interactions with his first love-Gwen Stacy. I guess this is where Mark Webb, in my opinion, exercised his professions, judging on his experience of filming such a sweet, indie, romance film previously. Generally I would grade him an A for his acting in this movie. I think he had really portrayed the inner side of Peter Parker: The kid who always got bullied in school but hoped to bring justice someday, the kid who desire to know the truth to his parents’ mystery, the smart lad who was rebellious and thirst for revenge towards those who bullied him. He did a great job I think. But I have neither seen any instalments of Tobey Maguire’s version, nor read any Spiderman comics, so who knows if Tobey did a better job instead. Besides, I’ve never seen any movies of Andrew Garfield, including The Social Network. Hence it’s hard for me to judge if Spiderman was his best performance or not.

Gwen Stacy, yes! Peter Parker’s first love who was portrayed by Emma Stone, my favourite Hollywood actress of all time till date. Honestly, the only reason I love the fact that she is going to be Gwen Stacy against Garfield’s Peter Parker is because they are an off-screen real life couple! Who wouldn’t want to see couples acting on screen, especially something as big as Spiderman? In fact, this movie was the spark to their relationship! (d’awww~~~) Because Gwen Stacy, according to descriptions, gave me a sense of someone serious like Mary-Jane. How on earth would Emma Stone, the crazy girl on Easy A acting all serious? It’s almost bipolar.
My mindset didn’t change much after watching the movie, except that Gwen Stacy turned out to be someone who is still quite quirky (or maybe it’s just Emma Stone?)
You can feel the Oliver Penderghast or funny Emma Stone vibe in such saving-the-world-esque heroic movie. Nevertheless, the intimate scenes with Andrew Garfield were still rocking awesome!!! Even the lead lady herself admitted that the feeling of first love was the factor that attracted her to this project. Heh, thus no surprise there were chemistry going on between the two of them!

Rhys Ifans also did a great job in acting out Dr. Curt Connors with his metal struggles between being the good guy and the bad one. He compared his character to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde which was very true! Those emotional parts aren’t easy to handle at all! On the other hand I think the movie didn’t really bring us along the journey of Dr. Curt Connors’ struggles. In other word, unlike Peter Parker, the movie managed to bring out Andrew Garfield’s acting and it felt like riding on a journey, from being an ignorant boy to the hero who takes up the responsibility to save the city. Dr. Connors’ character was unclear as to be the good guy or the villain since the beginning until when he turned into a mutant lizard then you realized he’s the bad guy. Then suddenly at the end he was the one who rescued the falling Spiderman from a tower, and I went “isn’t he the bad guy? Didn’t he want Spiderman to die?” So yeah, after the rescue you realize he’s the good guy again. Confusing much.

Speaking about confusion, there were also minor parts like when Spiderman attacked the thief who decoded some police car. You see the thief was decoding and when he got into the car, Spiderman was there. Then when the cops came, he disappeared and there goes the WHAT THE HELL moment. Moreover, I don’t get the part where the radioactive spiders are making webs. Other than the fact that we know it is where Peter Parker got bitten, others were a question mark for me.

Fortunately, the humour presented in it has balanced out the flaws of the movie, notably the epic cameo made by Stan Lee- the creator of Spiderman. That was the random time where you go “WALAOOOO” or “What…the…F…” but it was super hilarious and certainly unforgettable. Others were pretty minor but mediocre funny. It was something like, you gotta laugh or else the whole movie will be too serious. Not to mention when Peter just found his new super strength and how he broke literally everything to the extent that he had to use all his strength to open the door lightly before it breaks. That, was one cracking moment. Another super power of his was the stickiness of his hands until the keys on his keyboard got stuck on all his fingers. That was when he was still unable to control his newly gained super powers. I believe we all wished to see more funny parts from there but sadly no. Anyhow, it’s not a comedy after all.

Another good thing about this movie is the settings of the love line between Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy, which is one of the highlights of this movie. Other than the fact that because audience wish to witness the on screen intimacy of this hottest off screen couple, as I mentioned before, Mark Webb being the director of 500DOS explains em’ all. Unlike other movies like Transformers who hardly bring the emotional side of the Shia and Megan Fox’s relationship, the director put equal weightage on both action and love scenes in The Amazing Spiderman.

I have 2 biggest regrets in this movie. Firstly, I wished Emma Stone was Mary-Jane instead of Gwen because I want to see them together more even on screen! I don’t want to see when Spiderman lost Gwen and there’ll be no more Emma Stone or Andrew-Emma moments on screen :’( Secondly, I wished I watched it in 3D. Seriously especially when it came to the fighting part across the city, you can notice that it was made specially for 3D effects and it will be f***ing awesome!!!

As for me I watched in 2D, at some parts you felt like the thing was going to come and hit you or you’ll feel like playing roller coaster in the air when you see Spiderman flying doing his signature web-flying thingy. Instead of that, I got the “limited edition” and unfortunately unable to enjoy the thrill and exhilarating moments! I really wished I could get another chance to watch this movie in 3D again, like REALLY REALLY WISH TO DO SO!!!

All in all, as usual The Amazing Spiderman lived up to it’s commercial value and deserved to earn high box offices. I would recommend those who have not seen the movie to watch it in 3D. It’s definitely worth your money!

The aftermath of getting charmed by this couple :3

If You Can, Do What You Love

if there is already something you do often simply because you love it – but more than that, because you are compelled to, then pay attention to it. Don’t dismiss it as a mere hobby. Don’t think you’d rather be something else more glamorous, more prestigious, or more respectable. Don’t let anyone talk you out of it. Don’t let you talk you out of it. I can’t say enough how much I admire those who, at a young age, possess an unwavering certainty of who they are and who they want to be, and who set out with every step to get closer to their dream. I have always wanted to write, but when others steered me gently elsewhere, I lacked the conviction to stay on my own true path, to insist.

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Robert Frost
I went to Eunice room just now and saw her cuddling with Jimmy. Who's Jimmy?
Only KTJ-ians know that Jimmy is Ms. Campbell's cat, who's gonna leave for South Africa together with Ms Campbell tomorrow *sobs
If it wasn't for Eunice, I think I would probably forget about it, so I took several pictures with it, some are quite blur because...you know...animals and their claws tickling my leg...

Loneliness

Sometimes when you’re lonely but you want to get out of it, you know the way out and trying your best to fit into the situation. But in the end, you thirst for a melancholic, emo song that might make you cry so badly or probably stare at something for a few minutes leaving your mind go blank. When the music plays, you know this is it. This is the perfect piece that fits the emotion. I hate it, hate that how perfect it fits your feelings at this moment. You want to run away but you just simply can’t, even though you know the way out. It’s weird to even try doing things that you know can cover up this loneliness. Even if you are in those situations, you might feel safe and cozy but the loneliness still lies in the core. When it’s under exposure, the protection cover just burst and shred into pieces. I can only pray time will heal this misery and unnamed grief, shoo it away.

I've became numb to departures

So tomorrow's my last day in KTJ. To be frank, I don't feel anything that I was anticipating for the past 3 months, the sadness, the tears and all. The most that I feel is the reluctance in parting with our friends. Deep down in us, we know that we might not see each other forever, but it just feels nothing much than a simple departure! For me, it feels something like, "well she's gonna be back right!". Or in other case, though I know that I'll be leaving tomorrow, but it felt like " What's the big deal, I always go home and I'll be back anytime!" I guess the sadness starts when one day you realize that something's different in a part of your life. Just like Adam said before, he felt weird waking up finding himself not in his boarding house. Indeed, no more waking up in Alia, no more lunch with Umi and friends at 12:30, no more prep time, no more Miss coming in to my room switching off my lights at 11:30, no more sneaking out to friends room in the middle of the night after 11pm for movies or girl talk. No more house night, no more house meeting, and most of all, no more uniform.

I used to fear of leaving each other, but now and then, I don't anymore. No reason can explain it now. Umi just left just now but I didn't shed a single tear. I'm not sure whether if I was already numb and psychologically ready to face all this, or I was just trying hard to hold it back. One thing I know is, I did feel reluctant. I've been pretty close to Umi for about a year and most importantly we have our meals together, at least every dinner. She's sometimes unpredictable, but a very funny friend. I swear she can make the most epic jokes that will laugh my heart out. AND SHE WATCHES DISNEY CARTOONS AND AVATAR!!! as in...the last air bender...not James Cameron's blue people....Besides, I miss her sharing Evelyn's sarcasm and trying to pronounce Evelyn's chinese name xD

Whether if I'll cry tomorrow or not has became a question now instead of a matter of fact. But one thing for sure is that I WILL CRY if I see my friends start crying. That's just me. Guess that's all for the moment, toodles!
